Deep Water Point Cafe is perfectly located along the Canning river with views of the Perth skyline. It has indoor and outdoor seating areas and a fenced off children’s playground on one side very popular with local families. They introduced a new menu last month and over the last few months have also added a larger paved outdoor area and painted a sea themed mural over the rendered outside walls. I noticed that all the cakes were gluten-free and that the menu stated that they use gluten-free products were possible. Deep Water Point Cafe is cash only but they do have an atm machine located inside.
We decided to stop on our late morning walk for a drink but ended up ordering a meal. I ordered the Ham and Cheese Toasted Sandwich ($8.50) which had a generous portion of shaved ham inside. Whilst tasty I would have expected a salad garnish at this price. My family ordered the Waygu Beef Burger($12) and the Grilled Lamb Burger ($12) both came on a toasted bun with tomato relish, fresh tomato, onions and greens. They looked rather large for getting your mouth around it but both said they were filling a hungry spot. We also ordered a Chocolate and Strawberry Milkshake ($6 each) which were creamy but subtle on flavour.
As this cafe is walking distance from my house, I am so disappointed as it has the potential to be so much better. Their sister cafe Walters River Cafe at Point Walter, Bicton is a larger venue and better developed. Deep Water Point Cafe is open everyday for breakfast (served until 11am), lunch and diner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until 8pm.
