We left Perth in the early hours of the morning and some 2 and a 1/2 hours later we arrived in time for breakfast at the Goanna Gallery and Cafe. This was my second visit and although it had stopped raining it was still too wet to sit out the back in their bush setting with their coloured tin animals. (see pics below) The main building houses the gallery and cafe with a selection of local produce to buy. There is seating inside and in 3 areas around the building, one with toys and play equipment for children although they’re a little worn now. Staff were friendly and very accommodating for a diner at the table next to us who (without asking) was bought a bowl of water and extra napkins for her sticky fingers when she mentioned her meal was delicious but she had sticky fingers. Now that’s good service!
The breakfast menu has some good choices and they use Yallingup Woodfired Bread and Margaret River Free Range Eggs. Our cousin chose the Bush Breakfast ($19) of scrambled eggs, garlic mushrooms, roast tomatoes and pesto on toast. It was a generous portion and the pesto an interesting addition.
My hubby and I both chose the Eggs Benedict ($18) where the eggs were perfectly cooked so once cut, the yolk ran over the ham and toast. Absolutely noshtastic.
We ordered the Pancakes ($15) for our son and with the choice of 2 toppings we chose the banana and maple syrup. It was light and fluffy and we all quickly jumped in to help him finish them!
The Goanna Gallery owners are also the chefs and all their cakes are homemade. The cafe is strictly non-smoking and well-behaved pets are allowed. You can also BYO wine to enjoy with your lunch. The Cafe is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 4pm (8:30am opening on weekends). It’s a quiet tranquil spot to enjoy a coffee or meal and browse through theirĀ gallery to find something special for yourself.
