Daily PlanetĀ – street view
Some friends and I had been to a show at the Astor Theatre and decided to visit the Daily Planet afterwards. I liked the wood flooring, open brick design and warm, homely, relaxed feel it had about it. It wasn’t too busy downstairs but there was a party going on upstairs although it wasn’t too noisy.

Some of us were hungry having not had dinner so thought we’d order a more substantial late night snack. We were asked what drinks we’d like to order and then told the kitchen had now closed for the night. Slightly disappointed we took turns perusing the cake counter when another staff member told us the kitchen was open if we’d like to order some food. Hmm, so some confusion here. Our waitress came back and when we mentioned this she said she’d go and check. The outcome was the kitchen is closed but we could order something only if we did it now!! Needless to say we all ordered Coffees $3.80 or Hot Chocolates $4 and cakes (Tiramisu $7.50, Carrot Cake $7.50, Vanilla Slice $5, Lime Curd Tart $7.50) just to be on the safe side. However when our order arrived, the generous serve of yummy cakes were quickly demolished and the hot chocolates were good but the coffees could have been stronger. I’m sure the service was just a blip this night and I would visit again when next in the area.
