Brunetti – street view
I was told Brunetti (established in 1985) is an institution in Melbourne well worth a visit for one of their cafes and a decent coffee. I managed to fit 2 visits into my Melbourne holiday – one in the Myer Bourke St store and the other near Lygon St. On both visits we were only stopping for a coffee and a sweet treat to accompany it but we were not expecting the huge choice of cakes available, some which were gluten free too. How can one decide with so many options? – to share your cakes with each other of course!
The entrance to the Faraday St Cafe (off Lygon St) has large refrigerated cabinets filled high with cakes on both sides. There is a large counter filled with smaller cake options and the adjoining room has the barista busily preparing the drinks. It is a large cafe with plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating and we were happy to sit inside with our coffee and cakes at a table near the window to watch the world pass by outside.
The cakes were delicious, very rich and definitely met our expectations. The coffees were also good, served hot and strong. I also liked that they did not charge for babycinos.
Brunetti is definitely worth a visit when in Melbourne and they even have stores in Dubai and Singapore (I will remember that for my forthcoming trip).
