Papa Gino’s – street view

A walk down Lygon Street looking for somewhere for dinner and we come across Papa Gino’s, which is packed and the queue isn’t too bad so we decide to have dinner here. We are seated inside and immediately feel how warm it is in there. Tables are crammed in close together and it’s pretty noisy. However staff are friendly and happy to accommodate all our needs.

We decide to ordered 2 pizzas, the Gino’s Special Pizza $ 14 (medium) with tomato, mozzarella cheese, ham, mushrooms and green capsicum (minus the anchovies) and  the Chicken Pizza $14 (medium)  served with tomato, mozzarella cheese, ham, chicken and  bbq sauce. Both pizzas were cooked on  a crispy base and loaded with toppings. They were fresh and full of flavour. I did prefer the Gino’s Special Pizza probably because I like pizzas with vegetables on.

We also order an entrée sized Spaghetti Bolognese $10.90 for our son who was asking for spaghetti. The sauce was thick and meaty and the pasta was cooked so it was tender. It was a very generous portion and even though all 3 of us ate a bit we still couldn’t finish it.

Papa Gino’s is a great casual family restaurant which offers very generous portions of average food at very reasonable prices.
