Lunch with the hubby in the city followed by a spot of shopping sounded like a great way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. Having not made any reservations we found ourselves at Basilica in Brookfield Place. With an open plan layout and several alfresco tables we were warmly greeted and surprised to find full table service. With a quick glance as we pass the counter of delicious looking meals we ponder the menu deciding what to order.
I settle on the Lamb Panini $18 toasted warm with tender lamb, tomato and red onion. It was served with a mini saucepan of fresh crisp salad with dressing which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Hubby goes for the enormous Beef Burger $19.50, served with a cute frypan of chips, also plated on a wooden plank. Rather piggishly he managed to finish every last bit, lick his lips and then declare he couldn’t move he was so full!
Their Coffee $3.80 hit the spot and I was perked up to hit the shops.
Basilica is open Monday to Friday for breakfast and lunch. Its open, vibrant atmosphere makes it popular with city folk.
