Since making my first visit to Sayers a few years ago, it has to be at the top of the list of my most favourite breakfast spots. Named after the owners and centrally located in hip Leederville, Sayers is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week (but be prepared to queue on weekends for a table). We visited on a Wednesday morning just gone 9:30am and it was packed. We managed to grab the end of a long table and patrons were queuing to order back as far as the main entrance door. Apart from the indoor seating, there are a few tables out the front and in the laneway between Sayers and the neighbouring shops. Considering how busy it was, staff couldn’t have been any friendlier or more welcoming.
The breakfast menu is a mouth-watering selection especially for the hungry 3 of us! We chose the Banana and Chocolate Bread with Maple Butter ($8) for our son. The bread was very thickly sliced, dense like cake and full of melted chocolate. The maple butter was served in a shot glass, butter on the bottom with the maple syrup poured over. My hubby decided to try it by dipping his ciabatta into the shot glass…several times I noted!
I chose the Potato Rosti with Poached Eggs, Bacon, Onion Jam and Lemon Scented Spinach ($19.50). The rosti is served like a slice of cake and the onion jam is within. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, the yolk was thick and oozed over my rosti. There was a generous serve of lean bacon and the lemon scented spinach melted in your mouth. It was all topped with rocket and shaved parmesan. I was in total noshtopia!
My hubby ordered the Breakfast Brushetta; Fried Eggs, Fresh Tomato, Prosciutto and Toasted Ciabatta ($19.50). And what an impressive dish! It even attracted the attention of our neighbouring diners who commented how amazing it looked. The crusty bread was topped with the fried eggs, yolks just runny. Thick slices of fresh tomato sat under lashings of prosciutto, rocket and shaved parmesan.
If you haven’t had the chance to visit Sayers I highly recommend a visit, your taste buds will thankyou for it!! You never know, you may just see me there again too. But if you can’t get enough of Sayers, they are about to open ‘Sayers’ Little Sister’ at 236 Lake St, Northbridge.
