Casa Bianchi

Casa Bianchi - main entrance

I walked past Casa Bianchi a few weeks ago and it looked rather interesting and knew I’d be back for a visit. Well today I finally had the chance to visit and I was overwhelmingly impressed! Casa Bianchi calls itself a garden boutique which has a cafe and nursery in one. The main part of the cafe is up a few stairs in the middle of the property and is flanked each side by two different courtyard gardens.

The garden to the right has a large water feature and pond, home to lots of koi. There is seating in this garden with dappled light filtering though the trees. The garden to the left has a large pond with a canoe and there are a few bicycles propped up against pieces of wrought iron. The cafe in the middle also has a water feature along the outer wall and a cake counter along the back wall. The traffic noise is drowned out by the water features and soft jazz music filling the cafe. To my young sons delight there were two peacocks lazily wandering around the courtyard gardens. the indoor and outdoor cafe seating is on different Balinese inspired wooden or wrought iron day beds and chairs.

The menu is written on small blackboards above the order counter and they serve a range of hot and cold food. Casa Bianchi is strictly a cash only cafe but staff kindly informed me there was an ATM conveniently located next door. As it was mid morning I chose a Flat White and Banana Muffin ($9.70 altogether). The muffin was topped with walnuts, had been warmed and served with butter and jam. The coffee was strong and the top of my flat white thick and creamy as it should be.

Casa Bianchi is a fantastic place to visit. You can lazily while away the hours on a daybed reading a book with your coffee and imagine you are someplace other than inner city Perth. Children are welcome (as long as they are with their parents at all times due to the water features and ponds) and they will love exploring the gardens, following the peacocks and watching the koi. Take your camera – lots of other diners did and  I took a lot of photos as there was so much to take in (apologies for all the pics in this post as it was too hard choosing). On a warm sunny day like today this place is definitely work a visit!
