It’s the long weekend and I’m meeting a friend for breakfast. We’d originally planned to meet at a cafe but they’d called that morning to say their coffee machine was broken. As we’re both big coffee lovers we knew that wasn’t going to work so we walked to nearby Atomic. There are two Atomic cafes in Perth, one in South Perth and the other in Claremont. They were advertising a new menu and now offering eftpos services. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors and a few highchairs for younger visitors.
When we arrived it was packed but we nabbed a table as a couple were leaving. Whilst we perused the menu, a queue at the counter to order had formed and was so long people were beginning to queue just outside the main door. Although we waited a while to place our order, staff were friendly and service on our order was prompt.
Of course we ordered our flat white coffees ($4.50) which were steaming hot. I ordered the Croque Monsieur ($12.10) with a side order of Poached Egg ($3.45). The thick toasted milky bread was sandwiched around slices of black forest ham, bechamel cheese and dijon mustard. It was delicious and I dipped it into the perfectly cooked poached egg.
My friend ordered the BEC Toasted Sandwich ($13.20), a toasted ciabatta filled with crispy bacon, fried egg and cheese. She really enjoyed it and thought it was a generous serve.
Overall I liked our experience at Atomic on this visit and would like to visit again next time bringing my home crew with me.
