A few mums and I got together for dinner at Viva Italian Restaurant for our monthly catch up. Viva is located amongst the shops and cafes in the Kearns Crescent precinct in Ardross. When I arrived I found the entrance at the top of the driveway on the side of the building, opposite a water feature and found myself entering a very Italian styled restaurant. It opened into a large dining room and staff were quick to greet me and show me to our table. Viva offers diners different special deal on weeknights and you can also BYO Monday to Thursday only. (corkage $7 bottle)
The menu is rather extensive and had too many choices for my liking making it hard to choose. I finally chose the Bistecca ($33.50) New York cut Sirloin Steak chargrilled with rosemary and sea salt on mash with a mushroom and red wine sauce. The steak was thick and tender and I enjoyed it. The mash was very creamy and the sauce, which came in a little jug had lots of flavour.
Another mum ordered the Misto Mare ($38) which consisted of Grilled Fish, Garlic Prawn and Scallop Skewer, Fried Calamari, Oysters Natural, Chips and Tartare Sauce. The seafood was fresh, well presented and very generously portioned.
Two other mums ordered the Gamberoni ($32), King Prawns sautéed with olive oil, garlic & parsley, served with Spinach,
Fetta & Pumpkin Salad. Again this dish was well presented and had a generous portion of prawns.
We all enjoyed our meals at Viva and we couldn’t complain about the service as staff made every effort to attend to our needs and even make conversation with us.
