It’s cold Saturday morning and as we’ve all been sick the past 2-3 weeks we’re fed up with hibernating so we decide to head out for breakfast. We decide to venture down to Coffea Fine Espresso at leafy Applecross Village and luckily scored a warm inside table. Coffea is a small cafe with indoor and outdoor pavement seating and it’s very popular with locals and passing cyclists. Inside the kitchen is open and on display to all patrons. I like that they have highchairs for children and sell treats for their 4 legged patrons. They have a cabinet full of yummy looking cakes and slices and freshly made sweet and savoury muffins and tarts on the counter that would tempt the fussiest of eaters. I must admit I’ve been to Coffea several times for coffee and lunch before and have always enjoyed their friendly service.
The breakfast menu is good and pretty standard with most cafes. We both chose the Bacon and Egg on Toast ($16.90). I had my eggs poached and was a little disappointed that they had been overcooked and were not runny. My hubby chose to have his eggs scrambled and although he liked them, they were smooth and looked more like an omlette. However both our meals were topped with large lashings of bacon which was cooked perfectly with crispy bits and that made up for the eggs.
To drink I ordered a Flat White ($4) which was good and I liked the latte art. My hubby ordered a Hot Chocolate ($4.50) which came with a glass of hot milk and a shot glass of choc chips on the side. He liked that he could make it as strong as he liked and I think it ended up being 2 choc chips in the milk and one in the mouth!!
Coffea is open everyday for breakfast, lunch and coffee.
