1806 was recommended by an ex-Melburnian as a very indulgent place to visit. With subdued lighting and an intimate atmosphere, 1806 offers a serious cocktail cabinet and full table service. The menu is actually a book of cocktails dated in chronological order from 1756. It makes a very interesting read and you can actually buy the book to take home and peruse at your own leisure.
I really fancied a Chocolate based Cocktail which surprisingly they didn’t have on the menu. Staff were really helpful in suggesting alternatives so I chose an 1806 favourite, Angels Milk ($18). I can’t recall all the ingredients but it consisted of frangelico and milk. Hubby chose the Strawberry Shrub ($17) a cocktail of hennessey, strawberry shrub, maraschino and orange bitters.
1806 is most suited for couples and small groups but also hosts a range of events including Cocktail Degustations, Murder Mysteries, Cocktail Classes and Team Building functions. It’s open 7 days a week; Monday to Thursday 5pm -2am, Friday and Saturday 5pm -5am and on Sunday 7pm -2am.
