The Merrywell – street view

We are child free for the weekend  and decided to try The Merrywell at Crown Perth. It’s actually our second attempt as last time is was so busy and as there is no queueing system it’s grab-your-own-table fun and it was becoming a bit of a stressful  bun fight to get a table if you know what I mean!! Well on this occasion there were plenty of tables outside (although they were wet from rain) but we were lucky enough to get a table inside. I really like the layout and design of The Merrywell and the curved design masks the large size of the building.

Menus are located on tables and once you’ve decided you need to order at the food counter and drinks at the bar. Hailed as the venue for ‘Dude Food’ I was keen to order some share plates to try lots of different things but my hubby wasn’t so keen today. So we both decide to try the Merrywell Angus Burger $24 which is served pink with Aged Cheddar, Bacon, a Secret Sauce, Caramelised Onions, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle and Fries. Hubby ordered his well done as he doesn’t like pink meat…ever! (It’s a big sore point with me trying to explain to him that meat shouldn’t always be well done, hence this is why I don’t leave him in charge of the bbq or everything would be charcoaled!) The burger arrived on a metal tray with a mini deep fry basket of chips. The chips were hot and crispy on the outside but soft inside. The burger was too large to eat whole so I cut it in half. The meat was cooked pink to perfection and was very juicy. Although I enjoyed it and was incredibly full by the time I’d finished it all I did wonder if it was worth the hefty price tag.

We also enjoyed an icy cold  Lemon, Lime and Bitters $4 with our burger.

The Merrywell is child friendly and has a more relaxed dress code than other parts of Crown Perth. It is open everyday from 11:30am and is a great place to catch up with friends for a drink or enjoy a meal together. I really like The Merrywell and as the menu had so many tasty things on it I know I’ll definitely be back for more!

  1. The food looks great! 🙂
The Merrywell Perth is one of the best Perth bars for a Friday drink.
Definitely worth checking out if your at Crown.
