My mum has been asking me for a while to have breakfast with her at JACS at Applecross Village. It’s walking distance from mums home but we’re feeling lazy and decide to drive today. Staff greeted us and we ask to sit outside under the shade of the Jacaranda trees. We are given water and menus and asked if we’d like to order coffee to start. Once our coffee orders are taken we sit back and ponder the menu. My hubby is immediately drawn to the french toast with maple syrup and ice cream but a glance and surely not for breakfast from my mother makes him quickly change his mind! Two of us finally decide to have the Eggs Benedict ($18) after spying it being served to another table. Served on a slice of sourdough toast, the perfectly poached eggs once cut, ooze over the honey ham. The hollandaise is warm and adds richness in flavour.
We also ordered a serve of Bacon and Eggs ($16) and a half serve ($8) for our son. You can choose how you’d like your eggs cooked and we chose poached. Again the eggs were perfectly cooked and the bacon was crispy. However we debated whether one piece of toast was really enough for 2 eggs. What do you think?
JACS is open for breakfast from 7am to 11:30am on weekends only. I’d may visit again and may take them up on their current dinner special I spied in our local paper – Sirloin steak, béarnaise sauce, chips and glass of house wine for $28 on Wednesday nights or on Thursday nights half price bottles of wine with any meal.
