This savoury slice can be as creative and tasty as you’d like it to be. It can be served for lunch with a salad or for dinner with chicken or steak. It also makes a great picnic meal. I made these two slices for a picnic lunch which unfortunately ended up being indoors due to rain. Here’s how I made them:
1. Each slice has a base of puff pastry which is spread with tomato paste or you could use pizza sauce to the edges.
2. Then you choose any toppings you like being careful not to put too much on and leave a border. I like to put my toppings on in a line or on the diagonal to look more interesting. On the first one I used slices of zucchini, roma tomatoes and brie cheese. The second one I used roasted red peppers, red onion, brie cheese and bacon.
3. Then you bake it in a preheated oven at 220C for about 15-20 minutes or until it’s puffed, golden and cooked. It is best eaten warm on the day it’s made.
