Mt Claremont Farmers Market

The Mt Claremont Farmers Market is held at Mt Claremont Primary School on Saturday mornings from 8am. Parking in the school grounds is a gold coin donation collected by school community volunteers and goes directly back to the school to maintain its grounds, to charities and local community groups.

My sister and I arrived shortly after opening and were all rugged up for the cold morning.  With our reusable bags and hungry bellies we wandered around the markets deciding to do our shopping first and brekkie later. We loaded our bags with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables (some from the organic stall), fresh eggs, bread, croissants and a really delicious eggplant parmigiana. There was a lot of choice and my sister liked that there were stalls from many smaller producers. Although we didn’t buy any meat on this visit, it all looked fresh and I overheard one stall saying their meat in not pre-frozen, which is great so you can buy it in bulk to freeze.

We both chose to have the yummy egg and bacon rolls for breakfast and ordered coffees to warm us up. There were several tables and chairs set up for eating and we perched ourselves on some alongside the playground so Mr 2-year-old could have a play. There were lots of families and young children at the markets. It was cute watching a few little ones dancing to the live music being played. Then it was time for me to have a relaxing shoulder massage (such bliss), one more wander through the markets and drive home. The perfect way to spend a Saturday morning!
